Gear

Kevin loves to play a variety of styles of music, and believes that different types of guitars should be used with the various styles to best convey the right tone for the music and to promote a technique and feeling that goes with the style.

His classical guitar was made by Robert Ruck in 1974, and has a cedar top with Brazilian rosewood back and sides. His jazz guitar is a Heritage Eagle archtop. For acoustic fingerpicking he uses a Blue Ridge AS-60 with Adirondack spruce top and Bolivian rosewood sides and back, and for twelve string chores he has a mid seventies Guild F-212. All guitars have pickups and are run through a Tube Works amplifier as well as an Ampeg bass amp for lows, with a small PA available for larger applications.

Sheet Music

Among the many arrangements for guitar that Kevin has done is the famous Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring.

This one utilizes the dropped D tuning to help maintain the integrity of the bass line in the transcription. This is the version that is included in the audio samples on this website.
